Hello fam -
The rumors are true: The Heckle Mic is back! Our first one will be held on Thursday, April 11 - 8p at Lucky Jack’s (129 Orchard St) in the Lower East Side.
It’s been a little weird since the hiatus. We’ve had imposter “heckle mics” that stole the likeness and name of our original (and funnier) show. I’ve had 8 close relatives and good friends die within the span of 5 months. I got SUCKERPUNCHED in the back of my skull and appeared on CNN, New York Magazine, Washington Post, and the Guardian to talk about it!
And it wasn’t until after I got sucker-punched that I realized I was missing something. Getting savagely roasted for being a dumb b*tch comedian that got punched in the skull. Thankfully, there’s a way I could fix that…by bringing the Heckle Mic back into the fold.
This time around, we’re thinking bigger.
I have some very ambitious plans to take it to great new heights: going on a road tour, merch, brand partnerships, and rolling out highly-edited content on our social pages.
But most importantly, I want *YOU* to be a part of our growth, every step of the way.
One of my favorite sayings is: “A rising tide lifts all boats.”
I’ve also seen this happen first-hand. In the last three years, the Heckle Mic has developed and grown quite a formidable and talented community of comics. It’s the place where open micers three months into stand up comedy can find equal-footing with veteran comics who’ve done it for nearly a decade. It’s the place to go when you’re new to New York City and in need of finding a welcoming, supportive, and accepting community in an otherwise cut-throat, exclusive industry. It’s the place to be when you’re alone on a weekend night and don’t want to spend it alone.
And it’s through this community that we’ve built that I’ve seen some novice comedians, voice shaking while on stage, transform into big-time content creators. It’s a community where dozens of successful sketch groups, viral TikToks, and podcast episodes were born out of on a whim. It’s a community where underground, underrated comics are hand-picked to go on tour with talented and celebrated comedians. It’s a community where new and meaningful friendships are formed – right here at the Heckle Mic.
And because of this community, I want to make something more – bigger – for the Heckle Mic. So, inshallah, if the Heckle Mic brings great success, I also want you to benefit from that success.
Some easy ways to help with our success is to come in with your A-game with some of the funniest heckles you got and spreading the word about our show.
I’ll invest all the proceeds into investing in paid social ads, content creation, and surprise celebrity guests, but it’s word-of-mouth that matters the most.
So, what do you say?
